Certified Trauma-Informed Self-Leadership

Practitioner (Level 1) and Facilitator (Level 2)

Program Overview

The SLCO Trauma Certification equips mental health professionals and healing practitioners with advanced, integrative skills for working with trauma through the lens of Self-Leadership, IFS therapy, and somatic awareness.
Graduates demonstrate excellence in trauma-informed care, parts work, and embodied presence — with a commitment to ethical practice and personal sustainability.

Who It’s For

  • Licensed mental health professionals (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, etc.)

  • Coaches, chaplains, educators, and wellness professionals with trauma-related experience

  • Practitioners seeking a comprehensive, experiential certification in Self-Leadership and trauma

Prerequisites

  • Completion of SLCO Foundational Self-Leadership and Healing Training (1-week) or equivalent

  • Active professional credential OR documented trauma-related work experience

Practitioner (Level 1) Certification Requirements

​​

Core Training

  1. SLCO Basic Self-Leadership (IFS) Training - 1 week

  2. SLCO Advanced IFS & Trauma Training - 3 days

  3. Friday Series Trauma Track - Attend at least 4 of our Friday Series workshops (examples below):

    • Somatic Self-Leadership

    • Dissociation & Parts Work

    • Complex PTSD & Resourcing

    • Attachment Repair & Inner Systems

    • Working with Protective Parts in High-Trauma Systems

    • Transference and Countertransference in IFS

    • Ethics in Trauma Therapy

    • Therapist Self-Care

Consultation Requirement

  • Minimum 10 hours of SLCO-approved group or individual consultation

​​

Practice Demonstration

  • Two recorded sessions (with client consent, anonymized) for faculty review

  • One written case study demonstrating integrated trauma-informed Self-Leadership work

Ethics & Renewal

  • Commitment to SLCO ethical guidelines

  • Certification valid for 3 years

  • Renewal requires 12 trauma-specific CE hours

Facilitator (Level 2) Certification Requirements

  1. Experience Requirement

    • Minimum 2 years active practice as an SLCO Certified Trauma-Informed Self-Leadership Practitioner.

    • Documented experience applying Self-Leadership in at least two contexts: individual therapy, groups, supervision, organizational work, or training.

  2. Advanced Training Hours

    • Additional 20 CE hours in trauma-informed Self-Leadership, somatic work, or related advanced topics (can include external trainings if approved).

  3. Group Facilitation Competency

    • Completion of Facilitating Groups in Self-Leadership workshop (new SLCO offering or equivalent).

    • Lead or co-lead at least 3 Self-Leadership-based groups (minimum 6 hours total group time).

  4. Supervision / Mentorship

    • Minimum 6 hours of advanced consultation focused on facilitation skills (case review, group dynamics, ethical considerations).

  5. Capstone Project (choose one)

    • Develop and deliver a training/workshop on a trauma-related Self-Leadership topic.

    • Create a group curriculum or resource for SLCO use.

    • Mentor a Practitioner-level trainee and submit a reflective summary.

  6. Ethics & Renewal

    • Continued adherence to SLCO Code of Ethics.

    • Renewal every 3 years with 12 CE hours and evidence of continued facilitation practice.
